I know it's gonna be good because when the store called me back theh opened with "that's one odd, unusual build you've got there."-

archydragon (archydragon@loud.computer)'s status on Thursday, 09-May-2024 23:46:46 JST archydragon @Polychrome Years ago after I moved to yet another apartment, a cable guy who came to bring me a vital broadband internet connection, told me that he was very surprised to see a router which was just a desktop PC with two ethernet adapters, not some D-Link crap.
Polychrome :blabcat: likes this. -

Polychrome :blabcat: (polychrome@poly.cybre.city)'s status on Friday, 10-May-2024 01:23:12 JST Polychrome :blabcat: @kimleo85 I see that some ready made NAS now have ECC memory so things are looking better. Mostly I built my own since I wanted more control over it. -

Kim 🇩🇰 🇳🇴 (kimleo85@oslo.town)'s status on Friday, 10-May-2024 01:23:13 JST Kim 🇩🇰 🇳🇴 @Polychrome I always felt like I was being overly paranoid when I built my own NAS with ECC memory, but it's been going since 2015 iirc, only one HDD replaced(RaidZ1), although I should probably replace the others, considering how long it's been running. But most people I know just buy something ready made, even other techie types. 🤷♂️
