As some Xbox fans correctly pointed out, Microsoft is very generous with their severance packages.

So they won't be dropped like a hot potato the same way other companies do.

This doesn't make their decision to close those studios OK but it's fair to calibrate how bad it is.

I would argue this is part of why getting fired by Xbox is so heartbreaking, is the knowledge that Microsoft is genuinely one of the best employers out there.

So long as they will keep you, as it turns out.
