      @Wyliesau @not_br549 @Richard I've heard that this style has a lot of advantages. Mostly self-cleaning of dust and especially snow, better optimized for peak load usage times in a house, and they don't overheat in the sun so you get better electrical conversion even though you get less overall peak light.

      You know what looks ugly?
      If you put them on a nice sunny piece of land you could use much better (plants and vegetables).
      Roofs are roofs and the don’t look uglier than without panels.
      On the ground is very stupid.

      Yeah, what a shame. It makes the roof look ugly, and they can't clean the panels without the same sort of rigging you use when installing..

      Well you can’t compare switzerland and texas at all.
      We have only about 6-8 weeks over 75-85F we don’t have much problems with overheating

Obviously the point of this is that ground vs roof depends on where you're at, and there's a lot more factors that come into mind than space usage. And if the one point against ground usage is that it wastes space, vertical usage doesn't waste a lot of space.

      @Wyliesau @not_br549 @Richard I live in an area with enormous wind farms that kills eagles by the boatload. They look like the alien machines from war of the worlds just plopped down into corn fields. I'd take those solar installations any day over wind farms. (Best is always nuclear though.)

      I don't know if Poalack lives in Texas or not, but I wasn't comparing, really. I was contrasting.
      Dust is a problem in Texas. Dust and heat. And that's what makes a carport installation attractive -- it isn't so high up off the ground, you can get to them to clean with a ladder or perhaps just a long pole.

      But I have to agree with Wylie, that vertical installation looks ugly and retarded.
