   The problem isn't really the quips, it's the insincerity that ultimately frustrates people more.
   
   Many series has the protagonist make quips like Shin Cutey Honey but the difference is, it's sincere in the story it wants to tell instead of making everything a "joke".

     did something go wrong with tom and jerry over the years? i always watched the old episodes and those were consistently hilarious, i know the later episodes from like 90s or 00s were kinda crap in my opinion, but nothing too criminal as far as i remember
