Product: Can you tell me what's possible?
Eng: I mean that depends on what you ask for.
Product: What I'm gonna ask for depends heavily on when you can deliver it.

  @polotek@social.polotek.net so I'm a product manager not an engineering manager and I will say that I struggle to have discussions about estimates early when I'm trying to scope a problem. I don't want engineering to have to give me that first ballpark estimate and a second and a third as I try to balance how much effort an idea warrants having invested in it. I have a lot of options to do or not do things if they are easy or hard.
