     I use ncmpcpp with a mpd server. I have a separate pc above my desk with two monitors. It auto loads at boot tiled with pulse mixer and cava on the left monitor.

     Yeah. I enjoy doing stuff like that. I use mpc (via a bunch of scripts tied to my media keys) on the computer below to control the server, which in turn controls ncmpcpp.
     
     The right monitor is used for a script that pings computers in my house, and if they're up, connects in a terminal over ssh and runs htop for each such cpu. It uses x11 to measure the location of the various tiles and places new tiles according to rules in the script.

     I bet it was fun to accomplish that technical task. Not being sarcastic, I know it's fun to just put things together and make it work, like when I used to buy a bunch of $5-10 AM/FM stereos, a $15 AM/FM transmitter plugged into my computer, and end up with a <100$ sound system all throughout my home.
