     #monsterdon I appreciate the change in style of the score: we're now on traditional Hollywood flute and orchestra work rather than pure dissonant and arrhythmic synths. Honestly the music has a bit of a tone problem, but the contrast of it from the first 75 minutes is very effective.

     #monsterdon You know, seeing our two future protagonists flee a society based on a worship of youth, powered by hedonism and ignorance, and perpetuated by careless violence built atop that same cultivated ignorance... and having their eyes opened to a larger world when they stumble into the political relics of _the united states_..? That reads differently now than in the 70s, I think.

     #monsterdon This scene with the old man and all the cats here makes me think back fondly to the clowder that used to live on Parliament Hill in Ottawa.

     #monsterdon You know, between Mary 2, that long industrial hallway where Jessica and Logan 5 were being pursued, the locked door, the waist-deep water area, the elevator, there are a lot more parallels in the scene construction between this movie and Aliens than I was expecting.

     #monsterdon I'm really enjoying the set design in this movie so far. It's doing a surprisingly good job of simultaneously projecting that whole faux-future super-clean visual affect but also looking like places where people might actually live and spend time.

     (The people being renewed during this carousel sequence are going to the Heaviside layers like in Cats (2019), right?)
