HAPPENING NOW: At Northeastern, Jewish students & community members are observing Havdalah, marking the transition from Shabbat to a new week of fighting for liberation. We are here in solidarity w/ the students putting their bodies on the line to fight for Palestinian freedom.
We continue to mark Passover & uphold a vision of collective liberation. We support the student encampments not in spite of our Judaism but because of it. We know Jewish safety requires Palestinian safety & Palestinian liberation. Watch live on our Instagram: https://instagram.com/ifnotnowboston/
A Jewish undergrad from Northeastern: “I want to reiterate why we are here... It has been over 200 days of genocide in Gaza. Over 30,000 people have been killed & there has yet to be progress made toward a lasting ceasefire. Every action we do, including this, is to end this violence.”
“We built a beautiful liberation zone, filled w/ students & faculty from all backgrounds, many Jewish. Together we made art & music, called for peace & expressed our demands… disclose, divest + denounce financial & scientific/research ties to Israel, and drop the charges."
Students are sharing about the false charge of antisemitism, how footage revealed the hateful words used to justify arrests came from pro-Israel counter-protestors. The encampments have been places of community & commitment to justice: a reflection of the world we want to see.
