@Jonny @madison @DC5FAN @TrevorGoodchild @adequate well, if i start a crock pot meal the day before it should be ready by the time it's lunch the next day usually, just gotta use that white brain to plan ahead.

My crock pot hasn’t left the cupboard ever since Jesus invented the Instant Pot

@givenup @madison @TrevorGoodchild @adequate I prefer it thick. It always tastes better once you reheat it on the stovetop. I got a recipe that calls for a can of beer and a packet of hot cocoa - it is really good.

@DC5FAN @madison @TrevorGoodchild @adequate canned for chili usually, but i've used dry beans, by cooking them over the previous night, then dumping them in, tastes the same to me tbh.

@DC5FAN @madison @TrevorGoodchild @adequate i use pintos, light kidney beans, black beans, any beans, don't matter, just all the beans, usually about 5 cans worth
then two cans of tomato sauce, pound of ground beef, pound of sausage, buncha powdered chili pepper, onion, garlic, i add water, but it usually vaporizes away some by the time its done so it's a bti thick and there's so much beans and meat in it that you acutally have to chew it.

@madison @DC5FAN @TrevorGoodchild @adequate i usually make really big batches of chili, so i freeze most of it after a day of eating on it

@givenup @adequate @madison @TrevorGoodchild Nice. My Mom taught me to cook and being a bachelor forced me to for ten plus years.

Sometimes when I make dinner I'll make a double batch to vacuum seal and freeze. Over time I build up meals and when I get overwhelmed I can just defrost one for us to eat. Like when I'm pregnant I'll do that a lot so when baby is here I don't have to cook for the first few weeks.

@adequate @madison @TrevorGoodchild i'm at a point where i'd rather pour a can of baked beans into a saucepan and heat it up than nuke it lol

@givenup @adequate @madison @TrevorGoodchild I lived 9 years without a microwave. It takes no time to reheat things.

@DC5FAN @adequate @madison @TrevorGoodchild my grandma used to put bacon in a tupperware container, and nuke it to get bacon fat to put in a meal she was cooking, not evne joking, then she'd eat the bacon or split it with me.

@madison @givenup @TrevorGoodchild My mom made me a lot of hamburger helper. Sometimes it was microwave bean and tortilla burritos, not the frozen kind, I never went hungry. Her current husband is a super picky eater and they do a lot of fast food. They make a compatible pair.

I see what you mean. I'm sorry you never got a homemade cake. My Mom was always busy too, she was a teacher and I feel like we never got to hangout.

Is she not a baker?

@madison @TrevorGoodchild she's always been busy, only time she ever cooked much was when she used to have friends over to little 'parties' where a buncha middle aged people bored their kids by sitting around and talking and eating food.

I've been experimenting by making smaller cake batches. Like baking 6 cupcakes instead of a dozen... A single 6 inch round instead of multiple larger layers.. I like surprising my family with cake for their accomplishments. I want my kids to look back and be all "my mom baked me a cake when I lost my tooth and that was cool"
