     @hj you plug it into a retrotink and it converts a vga signal to scart by combining hand v sync. It doesn’t change anything else because the retrotink can handle the signal. But it appears the device is doing a crap job combining the sync signals.

     @xian I am told the only issue is that it can't do separate H and V sync so you need to put something in between that combines the sync.
     
     So, if you do a 15 or 31khz horiz signal, I have a box that works perfectly. The issue is my computer is medium-resolution like 25khz or something and nothing likes that.
     
     Except for a 7 dollar vga to hdmi adapter which I got today which works almost perfectly! Just wish I could use my retrotink lol

     @sun i know that Adrian Black had a lot of issues with his 5X too, it's very much "consoles first" and computers are just some afterthought. Apparently the 4K model is supposed to be better with it, I'm considering getting it for different reasons but yeah. I wish the 5X would do computers better.
