   I feel like Fedi activity comes in waves. Anyone else feel that way?

   I don't mean regarding only new registrations. I'm also talking about activity from longtime, more casual users. It's very interesting to me that for some, it's pretty noticeable when there's a dip in activity for a time and it's because a lot of users taking a break at the same time for whatever reason.🤔

     School breaks. Not because many Fediverse users are students but because many are parents.

     I’m serious - it has been spring break for many schools in recent weeks (the exact dates of spring break vary by school district) and thus parents likely have been less engaged. Similarly with “ski week” in February (for the parts of the country that have that break) and for the typically longer break in Dec/early Jan.

     I know my use dips during family vacations

     @david weird. It's the opposite for me, ive barely had interaction on Threads and here it's tenfold.🤷♂️but yeah, this place definitely needs more casual users to thrive.

     When Elon misbehaves, Fedi registrations rise. Nothing else really moves the meter.

     People have no idea what the Fediverse is and nobody new understands the meaning of "Mastodon" other than elephants.

     My interaction in the Fediverse has been sad. I was forced back to Facebook 7 days ago by Apple Music, and I have 1000% more interaction there in six days than I have had here in the Fedi the last year. That's a problem. I pay to be here. Facebook is free (you know what I mean).
