It’s especially hard to hear about Women Who Code closing because just two months ago, the other large presence here in Portland - Portland Women in Technology (PDXWIT) - also shut down due to a sharp decline in corporate funding of DE&I.

Both major outlets supporting gender minorities in tech, around for a decade and then closing within two months of each other, is brutal. And it’s not a coincidence.
