@whiteline there are women in *literally every other faction in the universe*, just not THIS one, because they only take the peakest of chads and then jack them up further with cyberware.
@icedquinn also in a lore sense it's two different types of horror, space marines are child soldiers whereas custodes are bereft of personal will and even though they know everything there is to know in the imperium of mankind c.a. 40k they cannot engage in simple speculative philosophy because their minds are completely totalitarian and loyal to the emperor
no they are not, space marines are created via organ implantation and custodes are created via an _entirely_ separate process that mostly completely rewrites the genetic material of a very select few compatible babies taken as donations from inbred terran noble families, creating a custom-made transhuman
the space marines method is _explicitly_ only compatible with 13-ish young boys of a healthy constitution, whereas there's been no such discussion about custodes
well they are not, i assure you that lore-wise they've always been distinct from the entire space marine process. they're not "space marines except of higher quality", they're literally just a different thing alltogether
@whiteline theres no reason they couldn't have just had a canonness, inquisitor or literally any some hundred jobs women actually have in the imperium too.
that said yes it's weird out-of-the-blue shoehoring but there's no _actual_ reason in lore why there couldn't have been female custodes we just didn't see up to this point
@whiteline i think somebody on one of the film crews responsible for this shit mentioned people asked them about it, and they basically were like "oh uh we didn't like the religious part or something" and its like :blobcatfacepalm:
@hyolo@whiteline idk i guess there is some contract shit with cavill that he'll abandon ship if they violate the lore so they figured out they could just shenanigan the lore behind the scenes to get around it
