   The poor were screwed over into a system of working for their benefits, by doing unpaid work experience for companies like Poundland. Even people who were doing things like working in charity shops, or doing other forms of volunteer work were forced to go and stack shelves for multi-million pound companies for benefits that worked out as less than minimum wage.

   Labour shamefully abstained when the Tories retroactively changed the law to avoid paying back the people they shafted.

     Since he's got nothing of substance to campaign on, Rishi Sunak has gone back to basic right-wing populism 101.
     Demonise the poor, as all being lazy scroungers that need to be dealt with harshly.

     Just a reminder, that between Gordon Brown and David Cameron trying this, we wound up with Atos hounding sick and disabled people into early graves with their work capability assessments.

     Disabled people who were in work through Remploy were deliberately thrown out of those jobs and onto welfare.
