@BrentToderian ...I'm sorry but (aside from say NYC and a couple others...) have you SEEN American cities? No public transportation to speak of, half the time the weather's -12 or 120degrees, virtually no city centers any more but oodles of ghastly big box stores miles away in remote areas, yeah....Good luck with that...

It’s circular to say we can’t move away from car infrastructure because of all the car infrastructure. Even the high temperatures that are more frequent are a result of our abuse of fossil fuels.
We need to shift focus. Active transport like bikes is one solution, but mass transit should be another. That would take care of too-hot days, and people unable to cycle, etc. You can always dress for the cold 😊
