i do wish the freewrite alpha was more alphasmart and less astrohaus, but its the best we're going to get.

@paul low demand. won't make all the numbers go up.

i looked in to it but i don't know any hardware blobs that will work with me. i'd have to learn wizardry manually to do anything there.

@icedquinn I don't understand why it's so difficult to reinvent the alphasmart

@paul the fw alpha is actually pretty close to the alphasmart neo. you can plug it in over usb-c and it will dump out the drafts as text documents for you. my only complaint with that is if i delete the file it should also delete the draft. it doesn't seem to do that. i have to scroll through one at a time to find the drafts i no longer want, hit a menu, "shred", type in a confirmation, which would be markedly less fun if i wrote multiple emails or something at once.

people have been asking to be able to put files back ON the device for a decade--something the Dana can do, but not the Neo--and the CEO is just absolutely dedicated to the bit of keeping the machine hipster-ingly crippled. at least they gave us cursor navigation this time :blobcatdunno:

@paul the battery life is still not god tier like the neo's, but i doubt anything ever will be unless we bring back saturn/superh processors.

@paul its plastic but it feels more like a nalgene water bottle than a childrens toy. the choc switches are pleasant (i type on 20gs normally now, so they feel heavier, but i suspect a normal person would be fine with them.)
