   The (major!) problem with this argument is that Sotomayor resigning has POLITICAL consequences. The courts and politics are linked.

   A Sotomayor replacement fight will transfigure the country and dominate headlines. That’d have been great last summer. It probably is good now too.

     @paninid Same. Search on Mastodon.online has been down for a full day now.

     As far as I can tell, it's just a huge media push about anonymous calls by "people" for her to resign, which she isn't doing? IDK, this has the smell of a smear campaign: zero facts, no news outlets citing names.
