this is the reason people are complaining about the mozilla announcement

they are NOT adding anything ai related into the browser, they simply introduced a toolkit for guis which lets you prototype with ai. there is no mention of firefox anywhere in the article. people are just hopping on mob mentality

@prettygood how much would something like what mozilla did even cost? i don't really think it was meant to be a high profile announcement

@kirby the issue is that they already spend a vanishingly small amount of their HALF BILLION DOLLAR revenue on actually developing software. I don't care about AI but I'm angry because this is another waste of money chasing the latest meme tech.

@kirby I don’t agree with his point on AI but do agree with him on Mozilla putting more work into improving Firefox and Thunderbird.

so from my understanding people are mad because it was yet another waste of money, i think that's a valid point then. signing off on that topic then

@kirby that's *my* gripe. I didn't click through the article, so my comment on the fedi post was based on the assumption that it was going to be something built into the browser with no straightforward off switch, the way they did with Pocket. That probably isn't the case, with the benefit of hindsight, so my original comment probably looks a bit stupid, but I'm sticking with it because Librewolf does solve a lot of the issues that they have created for users.

@prettygood seems to be the popular opinion of some people as well, albeit some people are basically just bashing on mozilla with no further reasoning, which is why i said it was mob mentality
