@lain@lain.com If you're into computer science, don't go to university.
Just keep hacking, doing projects and side gigs. You definitely don't need a degree to do programming.
I wasted a bunch of years and a whole lot of money learning absolutely nothing at university.

SuperDicq (superdicq@minidisc.tokyo)'s status on Wednesday, 10-Apr-2024 21:58:34 JST SuperDicq @hj@shigusegubu.club @lain@lain.com I am specifically talking about computer science. I am not against university degrees in many other fields, like electrical engineering.
I just think computer science courses in particular are really bad. If you're actually interested into computers you already know all the basic things like like what a bit and a byte is.
I spend 7 years in computer science in university and I think there was only 1 semester I genuinely found interesting and that was when we were building a neural network using vector math and algorithms that you had to optimize (so without libraries such as tensorflow that do all the heavy lifting).
Felt like I actually learned something for once.Haelwenn /элвэн/ :triskell: likes this.
