     using AGPL for software that does the service provider's computing (rather than the remote user's computing, that the AGPL defends) disrespects the local user (AKA service provider)'s essential freedom. for people who care about defending users' freedom, that is a pretty serious drawback.

     @lyyn @lavacat @dansup Dan is on the safe side using the AGPL over the GPL since there are many components interacting over the network. There are absolutely no drawbacks to using the AGPL since it's just covering more cases than the GPL. Yes, it's a client, but you never know how your code will be used elsewhere.

     I don't see why one would run the client on a server

     @lyyn@mastodon.ml Hmmm... Good question! As I know, AGPL requires to publish source code when you modify app, GPL requires to publish sources when you modify it and deliver app to user. So, AGPL requires to publish code in more cases rather than GPL :neofox_box:
