翠星石 (suiseiseki@freesoftwareextremist.com)'s status on Tuesday, 09-Apr-2024 11:21:29 JST 翠星石 @monsieuricon It increased the CPU clock rate from the old "compatibility" clocks to the faster clocks that the CPU supported (as proprietary software programmers couldn't help but to make timing dependent on CPU MHz).
(Answer is wrong, as I believe many computers defaulted to "turbo" mode and pressing the button rather reduced the clock rate).
