   but the DE-9 which is actually the D Sub 9 pin should not be labeled RS-232 as that actually a serial communication protocol that happens to be commonly transmitted over DE-9 which is actually universally called DB-9 due to the majority of people misunderstanding the d-sub miniature nomenclature.
