   me: Extra money? What's the charge?
   t-mobile: I don't have any information on the costs, just that it's enabled.
   me: So I can make the calls but you can't tell me how much it'll cost me?
   t-mobile: Right.
   me: Okay, but maybe you could look that up...

     @epilanthanomai how can you prepay extra money without knowing how much? Do you just give them dollars until they tell you to stop?

     @roadriverrail That was basically their starting position. I'm pretty sure they just didn't have that document in front of them, because when I pressed for that, they were able to find it.

     @epilanthanomai We're on some kind of T-Mobile plan that includes unlimited international calling and data, but I don't think it exists anymore. Amy got it for her Sidekick in 2004 and has renewed the plan every year since. They keep trying to push us off it but apparently can't.

     @roadriverrail Of course, to the surprise of absolutely nobody, I learned that using a US cell provider for international roaming for more than a day or two is a _terrible_ idea: Just buying a local SIM is almost always cheaper, and as far as I can tell (as I'm still in the US) pretty darn easy.

     @roadriverrail Mine includes international calling *to* Europe, but not *from*. I just called today to ask about from and it was *rather* more expensive than just getting a separare SIM there.

     @epilanthanomai it often is. Pretty sure mine is anywhere to anywhere. I've made some pretty long phone calls in the UK and Germany. Unlimited data too. T-Mobile really hates that we're on this plan.
