   My mum was a typical Asian Tiger mum. When I was in primary school I was one of the last kids in the last class in school. (Students were ranked by performance in my school back then.) So mum started tutoring me. I wanted to avoid her fearsome tutoring sessions so badly that I went one of the worst students to one of the top students in the whole dang school in a span of a year so that she will stop tutoring me.

   I look back and think that this was her strategy all along.
