(It's genuinely not a targeted subtoot. I'd forgotten it was one of the Christian religions' Easter this weekend, and the poorly-informed anthropology takes always come out at this time of year.)

I'm some flavour of neo-pagan (I'll not tire you with details unless you're super curious), so I'm obviously entirely down for seasonal celebrations, and was similarly celebrating the equinox on the 20th.
However, having been both some flavour of neo-pagan and extremely online for a lot time , I am very, very bored with the predictable and sometimes excessively smug "easter is really ostara" takes from my peers.
I don't think I implied the takes were harmful - I certainly didn't intend to! Although they a bit of a daft look, there's nothing wrong with being daft. I suppose you could point to a certain Eurocentrism involved, given that Newroz and its precendents are right there, geographically speaking, but that's certainly not the intent of the take-havers.
I'm just shaking my fist grumpily at the cloud, really.

i haven't seen anything like that. i remember seeing stuff about the spring equinox last week, though.
it seems to me that if people are celebrating the cycles of nature it doesn't matter so much if they are being anthropologically accurate so much as it matters whether they're harmlessly connecting their lives to the cycles of the earth in meaningful ways that bring them joy.
so i am curious about the harms caused by these bad takes!
