   This is a very dishonest way to talk about it as much as I don't like google. This is some sort of fossbro moral panic. Devs will simply need to migrate their addons to manifest v3. Manifest v3 is w3c'd idea, not Google's. Firefox is introducing it too.

     @dushman @icedquinn @jfmblinux the only reason it's not evil is because fossbro moral panic forced them the back down on several of their changes. Things are basically okay no, until the inevitable "v4" where they clamp it down further.
     
     One of the things they've changed is that now lists updates have to go through the extension store, so they can't be updated instantly anymore, it can take a day or more turnaround.

     Actually, ublock origin lite exists which is based on manifest v3 and works. So yeah not true.
