   The "free" state of Maryland says that in order to sell plants at the end of my driveway, I have to pay $100, give them a bunch of information, and submit myself to inspection.

   I would be okay with this if it was voluntary and didn't extort me for $100. I'm fine with paying $100 for an expert to examine and inform me of invasives and pest issues, and to suggest a remediation.

   But I'm against any edict compelling me to do so under threat of violence.

   Under duress I'll give them $100, but damn.

     Worst case some nosy b word calls the police and they come by and are like "hey, you can't do that". I wouldn't pay.
