You know who Hitler is, right?
You know the Nazi stuff. I bet you know some other things about him, too. His wife's name. That he was an artist before he got into the business of genocide. That he was a vegetarian for a while. That he liked the occult. I bet you know all sorts of things about different Nazis. And you were certainly taught about their beliefs. Of course you know these things, you were taught them and told "never forget."
But what do you actually know about the Jews? Their culture, religion, names?
Can you name a single Romani person in all of history?
Can you name a single gay person killed by Nazis? What happened to gay people after the concentration camps were liberated?
Do you know who Magnus Hirschfeld is? Did you know his name 3 years ago?
What books were they burning?
But you know Hitler was an artist and a vegetarian.
Have you ever wondered why you were taught to know and understand the oppressors, but you know so *very little* about the oppressed?
