     Imma be real, even as someone who was born and raised in Alabama. I can guaranteed that no one really gave a shit and people even made jokes about her illness.
     If anything else, I never knew she did anything else but to be the person that was about being blind and deaf and the use of braille and that's it.

     @anonicus @Plutonium_Pity there is no evidence that Hellen Keller "said" or did anything under her own power. The prevailing theory is her "aide", who was interpreted for her, just said whatever she wanted.

     Her aid was from an affluent family and coincidentally Keller's thoughts and opinions on matters of the time were the same as the affluent family.
