The west elevates ireverence. Satire and comedy. But what was satire's first historic achievement? Murdering Socrates.
In his trial defense speech, Socrates specifically points to Aristophanes as the instigator of Socrates' downfall. He says that there is no possible defence any man can have against such an onslaught of lies and defaming covered in a cloak of comedy and mockery. So he chooses not to defend himself but shit on Athens, democracy and predict its vile end and destruction.
I hate comedians, i hate the "its just a joke bro" irony bros with the power of a thousand suns. The people who mock τα ιερά και τα όσια should be executed in the streets like dogs. And those who smugly ask "what ever are τα ιερά και όσια" should be burned alive publically.
