@evan no one has an obligation to support anyone, but I think is a good idea if they do.

Evan Prodromou (evan@cosocial.ca)'s status on Sunday, 17-Mar-2024 11:20:22 JST Evan Prodromou @stinerman I'm asking about the second part. For people focused on the genocide in Gaza, is there a material difference between Biden and Trump? Trump cannot do worse than Biden. Zero is the lowest number of Palestinians in Gaza there can be. For those focused on genocide of their people, is it fair to ask that they also take, I dunno, agricultural policy into account? "It's a wash on genocide, so you should vote based on the pre-K policy." That is asking people to be ice cold.

Stine @evan if you're asking about the first part, I don't think anyone has an obligation to do anything, politically speaking. For the second part, I think he's he least bad candidate that has a chance of winning. The answer does change depending on what state the person lives in. If it's Michigan, it's a much bigger deal than California or Texas or Florida.

Israel would be free to ignore the UN completely, building more settlements, use more force, more deaths.
Trump would not care if other western nations split from US and Israel
Biden has been weak on Gaza but another term of despot in WH would be a greater disaster.
Netanyahu would love to keep current situation going until Nov elections -

They'd both provide weapons, diplomatic cover, and financial aid.
My guess is that a second Trump Administration would be less competent.
It might not be able to give as good protection as the current technocratic US government. Democrats would also be free to oppose the policy, as ~80% of D voters do. -

Any Republican president would likely be more thorough in their support and not even bother with token humanitarian aid. Many would actively encourage wiping them out and replacing them with settlements. And Trump, known for his hot-headedness, literally launched his political career on racism and his administration on anti-Muslim policy.
Even Palestinian-Americans are going to be in greater danger under Trump than Biden.
In short: anything you don't like about what Biden is doing in this situation, Trump is likely to do more of it, more intensely, and with enthusiasm.
