     @anchal Are we talking about pre-2008 smartphones with pre-Linux operating systems?

     I don't remember which phone I was.usojg back then... probably a Nokia which had a micro USB port but couldn't be used as a USB video device class.

     TIL that Android phones (or at least Pixel phones) can act as USB webcams without installing any apps! 😲

     Works on Linux using standard system drivers, and the image quality is superior to my laptop's built-in webcam.
