@WarnerCrocker I really like self checkout. I hate these new limits.

@GottaLaff I use it for a one or two item trips. When it works. Which it too often doesn’t. On 10-day grocery runs it’s nigh on near impossible and the space compromises made in worker staffed lines to accomodate more self-checkout in my grocery store, make that equally a PITA. Not a fan.

@GottaLaff My prediction is they’ll keep things cramped and understaffed in the manned checkout lanes to drive people towards memberships, using self-checkout as a perk. Walmart is experimenting with this, and Target has already announced a membership plan, though I don’t think it’s been tied to self-checkout yet.

@GottaLaff Also I just saw a news item that Dollar General is going to pull back from self-checkout.

@GottaLaff I’d say it might depend on location or merchant, but I’ve had the same bad experiences in 5 states and with several merchants. The gods must be smiling on you and not me. 😉

@GottaLaff @BlueWaver22 Intriguingly the only place I think it works for me is in an Apple Store, although I’m always nervous leaving a store when I use it.

@GottaLaff @WarnerCrocker ahh I hate self checkout😂 too- and it’s eliminating jobs i’m sorry call me old-school, but I still want to send my stuff through the line and have someone else ring them up for me. Self check out is all so causing major, major theft in stores. My sons with you Laffy- he loves it😊

@WarnerCrocker I've only used it in Target, a couple of supermarkets, and a drug store in BC. Possibly elsewhere, but again. all easy peasy and fast. @BlueWaver22

@BlueWaver22 @GottaLaff @WarnerCrocker self check at Walmart actually created more jobs/hours for the front end. Having 26 registers with 4-6 cashiers on average was the old way. With Self check, you generally have more than that watching/helping the area, during busy hours especially. In my old store, I think we almost doubled the number of cashiers when we got more self checks installed.

@WarnerCrocker @GottaLaff makes a ton of sense for DG. They have 1-2 people stocking and no one at the register to even see who’s stealing 😂
