Somebody giving advice on applying for arts grants said something years ago that’s really stuck with me, to the effect of:
“They’re not looking to benefit •you• [artists]. They’re looking for people who will benefit •their organization• if they give awards to them. They need people who will represent their org, be their public face, by receiving the award.”
I’d venture that this transparent trolling is Opperman playing for eyeballs, and telling donors who they are.
