There are many longer-form think pieces that I have in mind, but they would be drowned in my own feed by benign replies.
An alternative would be having a dedicated blog via WriteFreely and share the posts from it, because it supports ActivityPub. But would those posts even get much attention this way? It's difficult enough as it is to garner an audience outside of Twitter, with the Fediverse probably having a millionth of reach - although it being slightly balanced out by having a more sophisticated userbase.
But then I would have to find a WriteFreely instance and considering how almost every ActivityPub instance goes down after 1-2 years, except shitposter.club, and how obscure WriteFreely is, it's a daunting prospect.
It also doesn't help that the Fediverse lacks inline image support. WriteFreely offers it in a tacked-on way, but I believe the included images aren't loaded within the post on other Fediverse instances.
The only thing that I can do right now is attaching an image, so that I and others could find related posts easier by looking through the media tab on my profile.
@okabe_rintarou@shitposter.club i like updating my blog posts so ap is actually not the best for what i want out of blogs, so i've been very happy with writefreely. nobody reads it tho cuz nobody reads bios but alas
@shibao When I tried to look up your blog from the Fediverse instance that I'm on, I ran into trouble as I can't get to it. Shouldn't I be normally be able to find it by searching for @shibao @ writefreely.bubbletea.dev?
@shibao@shibao Using ActivityPub would make it easier to follow, as I can set an alerts for users I follow. And my point was that I can't seem to find your WriteFreely blog via the Fediverse instance I'm on.
