   I feel more out of place within fedi lately... it tempts me to try p2p social networks as these by definition prevent certain authoritarian structures

     @Jain sure try it out. my experience with scuttlebutt however wasnt purely positive, disadvantages include:
     - your ip address is revealed to other users
     - people can label you as something bad and it sticks with you (similar to mastodon blocklists actually but never knew that from diaspora)
     - very slow, consumes a lot of resources
     - didnt really work on mobile last time i checked
     - harder to see whatsgoing on in public in general
     - lower user numbers
     - smaller reach
     ...
     
     but in principle it's an interesting idea... distributed hashtable based social networking...
     i had also tried twister before scuttlebutt, which is a blockchain based twitter alternative, although i guess blockchain didnt really make sense there...
