   Perfect example of why I just cant bring myself to vote for Biden despite hating Trump... I just cant in my right mind be associated with people who act this way.

     @freemo I'm absolutely sure you have more and better reasons, and I do not want to make you change your mind, but this doesn't seem like a good reason. I suspect no matter which name you cross on the ballot, you will have made the same choice as some truly deranged people.
     Maybe you can write in someone obscure ? But at that point you might as well abstain.

     @freemo I have to say I didn't know exactly how it works! Looks like different states have different people on the ballot even for the presidential election.
     Page 10-11 of this PDF shows all the people who were on at least one ballot in 2020, it's... surprising. https://www.fec.gov/resources/cms-content/documents/federalelections2020.pdf

     @freemo And yet you don't apply that same logic to the freemasons?

     Any sufficiently large group will attract a few nutjobs, but that doesn't mean the larger group is unworthy of association.

     The main reason I find Trump so worrisome is that he's brought this extremist fringe to the mainstream on the right. Whereas on the left, the fringe is still just a tiny minority of loud preachy assholes.

     @LouisIngenthron a few nuts is very different than voting for a nut to lead the whole group by majority vote.

     Also freemasons are distributed, each lodge manages itself and may or may not have a parent lodge.

     @LouisIngenthron also thr majority on the left voted for biden and in my expiernce the .ajority of thr left are almost as bonkers as thr majority of tbe right.

     If this werent the norm behavior on the left id probably be more willing to consider them.

     But more to the point freemasons i cant evaluate too well till im in it. If this is the norm for thrm id leave.

     @freemo oh no, what I meant is that you should behave your best so as to be a good example of what <insert ideology> is really about. It's not because some asshole does asshole things in the name of some ideology that they're in line with the ideology.
