   Kinda realizing that SD cards might now be even less reliable than floppies were by the end.
   
   Floppy diskettes started off very reliable but as demand increased manufacturers began to cut corners and focus on quantity over quality, resulting in some terribly unreliable media by the end.

     @efi SD manufacturers are already barely making a profit per unit so focusing on bigger numbers on the box over cost and quality wouldn't surprise me.

     @Polychrome it was a pleasant surprise to see that I could get a miniSD with 2Gb in it, now there's microSD with 2Tb or more

     @niclas @efi it's possible that some of the fault is in the drift between the new drive head and the old one. It might be possible to recover the data with a specialized drive.

     In 1992, I bought diskettes with "Lifetime Warranty" from 3M. A couple of years ago, I tried to read those with a brand new diskette drive. More than 50% of the data was lost, especially the important bits.

     I contacted 3M for warranty claim, but they didn't come back to me.
