   Example #3412 of why the US healthcare system is toxic and harmful:

   The last time I got COVID it chewed up 11% of my small vessel lung capacity, giving me permanent asthma. My doctor agreed that I absolutely need to take Paxlovid whenever I get COVID to avoid further lung damage.

   So, this week I got COVID.

   When my partner went to our pharmacy to pick it up, we were told that our insurance would only cover $300 of the $1600 charge. So basically CVS Caremark (and Pfizer) is extorting me $1300 on a literal life saving medication because they can.

   Meanwhile, their CEO alone got compensated $21.3M last year. Corporate greed is literally killing people.

     @tdverstynen the best part is paxlovid is just ivermectin, which they claimed didn't work until they figured out how to patent it. :neocat_woozy:
     
     pfizer is a massive criminal enterprise. they were already busted for the largest bribery scandal in the usa before.

     @mcnado @icedquinn @tdverstynen Wow. The willingness of some people to so blatantly lie still shocks me sometimes. Ivermectin is to Paxlovid as leeches are to penicillin.

     @icedquinn @tdverstynen literally nothing about Paxlovid is ivermectin. At all. Ivermectin is an antihelminthic that works by modulation glutamate gated chloride channels. Paxlovid is a combination of antivirals that work by a completely different biochemical mechanism. Nirmatrelvir works by inhibiting a Sars-CoV-2 protease, and ritonavir works by inhibiting another viral protease (it was originally used for HIV). Ivermectin and nirmatrelvir-ritonavir are not the same.
