   It’s fucked how the word "crutch" has turned into this negative thing, like it means the same as "excuse."

   For a lot of people, actual crutches are what help them get around and live their lives.

   We shouldn't use words in ways that make people feel bad for needing help.

     @Daojoan Strange thing about crutches is that sometimes society needs a visible indicator or reminder just to be humane

     When battling Stage 4 Cancer (Mantle Cell Lymphoma), unless I "looked sick", no one would help. When I lost 50+ lbs, needed crutches to get around, only then was I allowed to park in Handicap spaces without someone remarking about "looking handicapped".

     Our society is very ableist. We use "crutches" as a pejorative, but need the visual reminders as much as actual assistance.
