     Yes. There is some of that.

     But the evidence just doesn't support that being even close to the majority of it.

     @jeffowski The link is from 2022.. But either way, recycling plastics isn't really a climate thing. It's about plastic waste.

     Like a single user paper bag has a carbon footprint several times that of a single use plastic bag.

     In terms of eqCO2 emissions plastic is relatively good for the environment. It just sucks in other ways.

     @Schouten_B -- If you can make a case for ETHICAL plastic use outside of specific areas (like medical), I'll listen to it...
     Considering everything, there is zero consumer choice in using plastic.

     @sjgenco @jeffowski I would go a bit farther. You don't have to be ignorant, stupid, or self-interested to believe something obviously false. Being part of a group that treats a certain idea as a condition for belonging can do the most amazing things to your head.

     For close to 20 years, I was a Christian fundamentalist. Believed the craziest things. Worked very hard to fit them into the real world. If I asked certain questions, I would be outside the line.
