I have been scrubbing my pc more and more as of late, Unnecessary programs, Shifting to more privacy oriented browsers, etc.
Switched out Firefox with Librewolf.-

@anonicus I have fewer build errors with LW than I ever did with FF. -

@prettygood Firefox makes me sad whenever I think about it. I kinda wished I was the CEO of Mozilla, only take about 100k per year and having most of the funds of making an actual good browser, Finding loopholes that I can actually make it to where Firefox asks you what search engine you want with choices and that being THE choice to use instead of goog being just the default. -

@anonicus there's a hundred things about FF that make me upset. Pocket. DoH pointing to cloudflare. Google search default. Removal of RSS support. Telemetry being opt-out. Lots of the default settings being not privacy-friendly.
Librewolf fixes 99% of those things and it is faster to build to boot. Thank god for free software to be able to fix corporatized bullshit. -

@romin @anonicus eh. I use the rust-bin package because otherwise it takes longer to build than the browser itself. Its the only thing I need rust for so its whatever. -

@jeffcliff @anonicus @romin the number of people who care about things like rust dependencies, much less the number of people who are willing to make decisions based on those dependencies, is vanishingly small. -

Too bad Librewolf distribution is shit unless you wanna deal with Flatpak crap or add foreign repos that do not fucking work. I didn't have a good experience with Librewolf on Debian Sid.
Reminder that IceCat made a comeback last year, it's up to date with Firefox 115-esr. I've been testing it for the last few weeks now and I can say it's the best truly free fork, specially since it's distributed through Guix. -

That shit won't work on Debian. It may work with Guix though since Guix compiles stuff without breaking itself much like Gentoo, then again, Guix has GNU Icecat already, the superior free web browser. -

@anonicus@shitposter.club Switched out Firefox with LibrewolfNeat! The only reason I'm not using it on my main PC is because I'm using Floorp (which lets you switch to older, better Firefox layouts and add a start screen wallpaper). Librewolf fulfills the promise of privacy that Firefox supposedly accomplishes.
