i think the sad thing for USAians is they dont have this communally accepted giant pretend reality that exists only in film and tv where cars, schools, trains, houses etc all conform to certain motifs that just dont exist in the real world. For them thats just actual reality.
growing up with america land as this fiction lore ontop of everything gives it this filmic feel and then you see it in real life and you're like, oh, none of this is filmic.
