     @perfect_brains so the question on many minds is: "why has illegal immigration not been tackled?" The question of "who goes, and why" is a large piece of that puzzle. All those H1Bs, do they get renegotated, what about those "Temporary" status people, etc etc.
     
     But most critically - what about children of illegal immigrants?
     
     No-one wants to dig into what makes a nation. The whole "america is an idea" is a poor argument, and everyone knows it.

     but nobody likes being exposed for it
