   @scott@shonk.social While they are a shitty company, they offer us many benefits especially since we get DDos'ed regularly, so using cloudflare saves us a ton of money and gives us faster speeds and stops random people that try to ddos us, our hosting provider hetzner also has ddos protection but Cloudflare also blocks spam bots from signing up and spamming our instances full of bots, and it allows us to block content scrapers
   
   So yeah while the company is shit, i mean look how they protected kiwifarms the site that was doxing and harrsing people, but the benefits of using them far outweigh not using them, and as long as their policy of "we don't give a fuck" applies both sides we will continue using it, as it helps us run these instances

     Ah, damn. Shonk.social is on cloudflare. Guess I'll be self-hosting again or looking elsewhere 😞
     
     I get the technical reasons for it, I've been kinda impressed with the performance, but I don't get on principle why the admins would choose to work with such a staunchly fascist organization.
