   The internet as I remember it always was a bunch of personas with drawn images and random nicknames.
   
   Identifying online with your real life identity has only really started being a common occurrence since normies started using the internet and sites like Facebook became mainstream for the last 10 years or so.

     @fluffykittycat@furry.engineer @darlingofinana@social.translunar.academy And I think being firstname lastname on the fediverse is just really boring and bland. I hope these people realize that they DO NOT fit in.
     
     Firstname lastname is only acceptable if you are a public figure.

     You can also just make fake facebook accounts to be able to read posts that you can only see if you're logged in. These fake accounts can sometimes be banned, but you can just make a new one...
