What we wanted: Open Source Contributions because folks were interested and passionate about the project and wanted to learn more and grow their skills.
What we got: Open Source used as resume fodder which in turn promotes drive-by PRs on Github, slap-dash "line go up" commits, and LLM-generated garbage masquerading as legitimate passion.
