So a follower here graciously offers me a script to try to deal with a pdf printing issue I mentioned. And good 'ol "convert"/ImageMagik throws a "not authorized" error. So I look around and find a rabbit hole of crap about remote execution bugs and workarounds and profile files and other related stuff going back at least to 2018, and supposedly fixed. Or not. THIS is why Linux will never be a mainstream desktop. Jeez. And convert still doesn't work.

@lauren I remember running into this issue and being extremely annoyed. And I'm reasonably certain that by the time it happens to me again I'll have forgotten the "simple" fix I ended up finding. (As I have forgotten it now.)

@lauren Imagemagick reminds me of ffmpeg in that everyone knows its a hoary mess and yet it's this hoary mess that is coaxed into many front-end programs to do the heavy lifting.
I can't tell you how many times I've had convert silently create crap without even so much as a warning.
