I am fond of pointing out that in the early part of the pandemic, we stopped flu in its tracks completely (and even wiped out a whole strain) by wearing crappy masks badly. Well, it turns out those same crappy masks prevented a whole boatload of COVID too! As someone who herself was wearing crappy masks at the time, I say: pretty impressive for crappy masks, worn badly.

Yep. Pretty impressive that even crappy masks work to prevent airborne transmission.

I’m an N95 girl now, but I was once a cotton mask wearer too. I never really went through the procedure mask stage (they don’t fit my small face), or the “I’ll just wear this thing under my nose, or under my chin, and that’s fine, right?” stage. 😷
