     @paul_ipv6 An amazing amount of engineering effort has gone into making "computers" (modern CPUs, compilers, JavaScript engines, etc) run mediocre code just as fast as good code.

     This is a good thing, but deprives me of some opportunities to feel like a badass.

     i was just getting into computers seriously as higher level languages were making assembly, awareness of actual RAM usage, etc much less necessary. it's been interesting as we've move further away from all that and yet there is still a need for at least a few folks to dive into the guts underneath.
